A wonderful 3 days!. A truely beautiful home away from home! From the minute you walk in a sense of calm has been created- everything has been thoroughly thought through to every last detail and made our stay so very special. A credit to both Jane and Philip. Everything was perfect. Thank you so very much. From Sydney

What a wonderfully designed house! The views are just AMAZING! It is truly a hidden wonderland of true beauty, a great place to relax and unwind for my birthday. The fireplace was just magic, not to mention the spa bath. Can't wait to come back in Summer. We had a wonderful time. Thankyou. From Sydney

Like some of the other comments in this book- this place is wonderful and has access to great beaches and bush walks. Now it is on our "must return" list but we will need to add extra days to really get the most of it. From Canberra

Just as before a beautiful place to relax and unwind and spend time together. Impeccably presented and just as it was on our last visit. Thankyou so much. From NSW

This is our 4th visit to Blue Point. We love this hideaway retreat with the superior setting and stupendous views. We come here to escape the other world and wind down. Thankyou Jane and Philip for your hospitality, good taste and excellent organisation, even little bows on the fire wood bundles of twigs. From North NSW

The Post (July 2003)

Home away from Home with Views, by Sue Coulton

Holiday makers have long been drawn to the Jervis Bay area because of the beauty of the surrounds.

Truly enjoying it becomes even easier with the luxurious accommodation offered at A Blue Point House, in the town of Vincentia.

The house, which features spectacular views of the Bay area was built by Jane and Philip Bessell-Browne with the help of a local builder.

It opened in Easter 2000, and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the best value accommodation venues available on Jervis Bay.

It is little wonder.

The house features two bedrooms upstairs with a full bathroom and a large spa bath.

Downstairs, there is a living-dining room,a fully equipped, modern kitchen, a television room, laundry, another bathroom and a large balcony with a barbecue to make the most of the views.

Painted in yellow and blues to enhance the ocean aspects, the house has proved popular during the summer months and the whale watching seasons.

Mrs Bessell-Browne said the couple had been fully involved in the construction of the house and believed it offered good value for money.

"We particularly aim at couples who are after a romantic getaway, honeymooners, anniveraries, Valentine's Day or just people who want to get a way." she said.

" We allow a maximum of two children in the house. We feel the atmosphere is relaxing and we've certainly tried to reflect this in the home." From 2004 Sorry No Children,

Close to the beaches, shops, and golf course the Bessell-Brownes believe the Border and the North East residents can fully experience the delight of A Blue Point House by making it a longer stopover, with special rates in place to accommodate those who are looking for a getaway of several days.

Vincentia Accommodation

Sydney Morning Herald Review (October 2000)

The building boom of the past 12 months has not been kind to Vincentia, a seaside retreat three hours south of Sydney where the hills overlooking Jervis Bay have been defoliated to make way for dozens of overblown brick-veneer holiday houses featuring triple garages, Corinthian colonnades and hectares of lawn. Take a tour around here and you'll pine for the days of the humble fibro shack surrounded by gum trees.

Luckily, Philip and Jane Bessell-Browne decided to buck the local suburban horreur aesthetic when they built Blue Point House on a hill at the southern end of town. They designed the two-storey house in post-Murcutt style - corrugated roof and walls, airy interiors, blue-and-yellow colour scheme to mimic sky and sand - and kept the trees it overlooks pretty much intact.

Rural seclusion is not the attraction here - the house sits cheek-by-jowl with its neighbours and its interior is designer-modern, with polished wooden floors, corrugated aluminium feature walls, a glass-topped dining table and fittings that smell freshly unpacked. But as a family weekender, it is extremely comfortable, spacious and functional.

The living room has a glass frontage that offers expansive views to Point Perpendicular and Bowen Island, the big balcony has a gas barbecue, and the main bedroom is big enough to play kick-to-kick football in. Bonus points were awarded for the tied bundles of kindling and the Father's Day Heinekens.

Locally, there's a limitless range of things to do around Vincentia - snorkelling in Jervis Bay, whale-spotting cruises, botanic gardens, bushwalks in nearby Booderee National Park, and a one-hour stroll along the Sandy Beach Trail to Hyams Beach, to name just a few. Frankly, we didn't do any of it. Instead, we took a 10-minute stroll to Greenfields Beach, a little, crescent-shaped cove which looked irresistible on the first warm day of spring - aqua water sparkling like frost and tall eucalypts throwing shade patterns over white sand. The rock formations at either end of the beach here offer enough shell collecting/crab spotting/rockpool fossicking to keep an average eight-year-old in Magic Beach mode for hours. Adults can wallow in the hallucinatory feeling that they're in the Cayman Islands.

Later, we went back to the house, broke open the complimentary Wolf Blass white and settled back to watch the stars come out. Those suburban-style mansions up the street seemed a long way away.
